OPEN ROBOTIC CONTROLLERS [full paper]

This paper collects information about actual status and future trends of research and development in sphere of open robotic controllers and pointing out the importance of its advances in research, academic and commercial field. Mainly two different approaches were described there. First of them are Hardware In the Loop simulators, which are usually programmed with wellknown commercial products from academic field. On the other side, in comparison with commercial products, are open source robotic middleware which is freely available and it is managed by community of researchers and enthusiasts. The main advantage of this approach are large community support, but software may be unstable and there should be also compatibility issues between versions.

THE DEPOSITION PROCESS OPTIMIZATION BY CONTROLLING OF THE PIEZO ELEMENTS IN THE PRINT HEAD [full paper]

The aim of this paper is optimization of the deposition process in jetlab® 4xl-A inkjet printer by controlling of the actuating signal drives the piezo element in print head used in the Department of Technologies in Electronics at Technical University of Kosice. The implemented optimization process significantly contributes to the precision printing of the silver based nano-inks onto the polymeric flexible and rigid substrates. By changing the shape of the actuating signal the small volumes of drops are achieved which allows to create the structures with smaller width and higher precision. The careful adjustment of the inkjet printer before the printing is a time consuming process which had to be done for every kind of nano-inks as well as for substrates. This paper offers the optimized actuating signal for silver based nano-ink UTDAgIJ manufactured by UT Dots, Inc., using the nozzle with diameter 70 μm.

POSSIBILITIES OF INCREASING TRANSMISSION CAPACITY OVERHEAD LINES [full paper]

This article describes each option will increase transmission capacities of electrical power lines with an emphasis on the size of the transmitted power. The ampacity depends on electrical and mechanical properties of the conductor material, thermal insulation properties (the cables), ability to dissipate within the conductor generated and received from nearby heat and ambient weather conditions. Ambient conditions vary on the hydro meteorological impacts and local impacts. The hydro meteorological impacts include ambient temperature, wind speed and amount of sunlight radiation. Local impacts include location management and level of environmental pollution. At the core of the work is described in more detail these factors ambient conditions and the possibility of their calculation.

EXPLORING CODE PROJECTIONS AS A TOOL FOR CONCERN MANAGEMENT
[full paper]

Comprehending the code is the main activity performed by programmers during programming. Each software system implements many concerns from the problem domain, but their transformation into a source code makes them scattered and hard to find. For this reason, many tools and approaches for working with concerns were created. Evolution of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) brought a possibility to work with the code on several levels and it became possible to alter the presentation of the code without changing the code itself. Such presentation is referred to as projection. In this paper we explore possibilities to use projections as a tool for concern management. We present our categorization of different existing approaches for concern management and of projectional tools already available in multiple IDEs. We also review research-originated tools that provide code projections. Based on this review we identify several areas where existing solutions can be improved and propose our concept of configurable projection that can further facilitate the program comprehension process.

TOOLS USED IN AMBIENT USER INTERFACES [full paper]

Research of ambient user interfaces is popular among many researchers. The main idea is that a user interface would react onto its user and would execute reactions on his/her actions. Main problem with creating ambient user interface is that for different domains the human-computer interaction changes. In this article we investigate different tools that are employed in ambient user interface and the different approaches how they are used. We focus mainly on the use of the multi-display set-up, touch screens, kinect, eye-tracking devices and brain-computer interface technology. We propose approaches how they can be utilized in an ambient user interface, how they affect the user and how they can be used for the evaluation of ambient user interface. It is essential for future research that these measures evaluate the efficiency of the use of ambient user interface in different domains. We briefly analyze natural user interface and its association to ambient user interface. In the conclusion we establish the steps for the future research of this topic.

THE PROBLEM OF MALWARE PACKING AND ITS OCCURRENCE IN HARMLESS SOFTWARE [full paper]

Analysis of software behaviour and its other properties is largely used as a method for uncovering malicious features in software, especially in cases of unknown malware. Traditional malware signatures can be circumvented, e.g. by obfuscation, therefore in our endeavour to formulate malware behavioural signatures we study behaviour and various properties detectable in malware. However, in this article we present different point of view on this issue. In our experiments we analyse a set of freely available software that is harmless and compare data extracted from analysis with malicious programs. In this article we focus on results related to so-called packing and show that this typical malware feature may be present in harmless software as well.

USER EXPERIENCE OPTIMIZATION USING PSYCHOPHISIOLOGICAL MEASURES [full paper]

With the increase in popularity of electronic entertainment (EE), the demand of optimization of its individual element arose. Big studios producing products of EE (movies, video-games, music, etc.) are benefiting from any gathered feedback from their customers. Customer’s reaction to individual parts of the video-game might be invaluable for future level-designers, in form of information about each single aspect/feature targeted in the optimization process. In this paper, we present a study of individual checkpoints on the way of optimizing such EE products using artificial intelligence. We also present a way of using psychophysiological measurements of subjects playing video-games or watching movies to optimize their general EE experience.

STATIC PERSON DETECTION AND LOCALIZATION BASED ON THEIR RESPIRATORY MOTION USING VARIOUS ANTENNA TYPES [full paper]

Detection and localization of non-moving human targets by ultra-wideband radars (sensors) is becoming crucial in the last years. In contrast to a moving target localization this task is much more challenging. A movement of a static person caused by the respiratory motion is barely observable. In this paper, a new method of respiratory motion detection based on Welch periodogram is presented. The performance of this method is demonstrated on a scenario with real radar data obtained by a measurement at laboratory conditions. Moreover, a custom-made flat antipodal Vivaldi antennas are used. Despite of the conditions, one static person is succesfully detected and localized.
