Municipal Creditworthiness Modelling by Artificial Immune Systems
[full paper]
Municipal creditworthiness represents a very important measure of financial stability. Banks, supervisors, and other institutions rely upon ratings of creditworthiness to produce representations of the risk, nevertheless rating agencies never disclose evaluated parameters and their weight. This implies effort of scientific community to find accurate models for prediction of municipal creditworthiness rating. In this paper we present a classification model for municipal rating based on algorithms from the branch of artificial immune systems; Immunos-1, Immunos-2, Immunos-99, CLONALG and CLONCLAS.

Contextual Connections Among Objectives and Objects at Product Model Definition [full paper]
During the past decade, work of engineers has moved into integrated product modeling systems at the leading industries. In order to establish high level and comprehensive support of product related engineering activities, engineering software has been concentrated in product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. Product development applies object modeling techniques where objects, their parameters, and relationships with other objects are defined for very complex products. Product model increasingly serves as a medium in communication between engineers. This great achievement requires information about the background of decisions on the objects those are received by engineers who must coordinate new decisions with earlier ones. The authors of this paper proposed a new modeling method for the definition of the above background at the definition of product objects. Moreover, definition of product objects is done by human intent based control using the background definition. The new modeling is an extension to the current product modeling in industrial PLM systems. In this paper, the main process and the related model entities are introduced, explained ad discussed. The proposed modeling called as information content based modeling relies upon model entities for human intent, engineering objective, contextual connections, and decisions. It can be fully integrated with product modeling in current industrial PLM systems.

Uplink Modulation Strategies in 4G Wireless Cellular Systems [full paper]
New upcoming wireless communication standards utilizing Ortogonal Frequency Division Multipexing (OFDM) provide high data rates and good signal cell coverage that makes their application extremely promising in fourthcoming years. Despite of its widely recognized benefits, sensitivity to the nonlinear amplification remains still a special issue to be solved. Recent solution to overcome this problem has been itroduced by 3GPP consortion in Release 8, where the the particular precoded OFDMA scheme, a closely related OFDMA alternative, is considered. This approach is widely recognized as a Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiplexing (SC-FDMA) and is characterized by using Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT) for the signal spreading/despreading purposes. In this paper, we present the mutual performance evaluation of discussed techniques performing over nonlinear AWGN channels and state some significant considerations resulting from this.

The Reliability Characteristic of Power Plant Unit [full paper]
The application of reliability theory is in a fast progress today. There are high expectances on power plant units because of its higher performance, better parameters, complex technologies, higher control level and further cooperation between devices. Experience shows that with higher performance there is a decrease of reliability demonstrated by higher blackout number, lower maintenance and decreased lifetime period of mostly used parts of device. Criteria and normative of reliability enable more precise programming of network operation, failure free time planning for aggregate and output backup, order and time of preventive inspections and selection of appropriate correctional provisions. It also enables prognosis of quantity and sort of material and other sources for recovery, normal operation and device ageing. Applications are useful for both the producer and user of power devices, who in past few years worked on a progress in practical usage of these applications. One of the most used applications are those which deals with the prediction of reliability indicator of new devices, their parts and system of unit control which are used for blackout analyses of lower output level. The final goal of this prediction is design, construction and operation of devices with wanted reliability.

Design and Evaluation of a Web System Supporting Various Text Mining Tasks for the Purposes of Education and Research [full paper]
This paper presents an original solution that offers necessary functionalities for design, implementation or simple evaluation of various text mining techniques based on Java library called JBOWL. This library was designed as open source API to support different phases of the whole text mining process and offers a wide range of relevant classification and clustering algorithms. JBOWL is particularly useful for enhancing existing software applications with text mining capabilities, as well as for support of practical education of text mining and its exploitation. In this paper we present two particular cases where JBOWL has been successfully integrated and tailored for specific way of exploitation. First case presents integration of JBOWL within collaborative application called KP-Lab System and the second one is a web-based system for education purposes. The proposed solution supports the whole text mining process, starting from creation of a corpus of relevant documents, application of various pre-processing methods, up to creation of text mining models in a form of classifiers and evaluation of the obtained models. The execution of different tasks in the same time is supported by task-based execution engine, which provides middleware-like transparent layer for distributed execution. Evaluation of developed solution was realized within the university course called Knowledge management. This course is organized at the Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Technical University of Košice. The paper also describes performed experiments and their results.

PATool – A Tool for Design and Analysis of Discrete Systems Using Process Algebras with FDT Integration Support [full paper]
This paper deals with PATool – a process algebra tool with FDT integration support. We discuss main features, used formats, principles of conversions and cooperation with other tools in order to provide a platform for the design and analysis of systems using process algebras. PATool is based on former work in the FDT integration area, which formed the basic idea and requirements to the tool. As a result, PATool currently offers a simple interface for FDT integration tools and process algebra specifications with corresponding interchange formats transformations. A typical use is demonstrated by examples.

QoS Measurement and Evaluation in Private Network of SPP Prior to VoIP Implementation [full paper]
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has many advantages for enterprises, chief of which its cost-effectiveness. However, to compete with traditional telecommunications technologies, the quality of speech over a VoIP connection must be comparable to or better than that of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Enterprises must perform a full network assessment to discover all network impacts prior to the IP telephony deployment. This will help avoid service problems, unplanned additional costs and deployment delays of IP telephony implementations. Several objective testing methods are available to measure, monitor and analyse the speech quality of VoIP services. These include Perceptual Speech Quality Measure (PSQM). This article explains the technical principles of these methodologies, shows how they are applied in network assessment in private network prior to the IP telephony deployment by the Siemens network engineering and routing tool. This assessment verified that the solution is capable of delivering acceptable voice quality across the network from end points within all important office locations.
